Painting tutorial for beginners on how to paint realistic rocks or stones with textures using palette knife and gesso in a step by step easy and basic acrylic painting tutorial. In this tutorial you will also learn on how to add textures, shadings and highlights on rocks.

In the process, first step is to sketch the form of the rocks for the guide and 2nd step is to add the textures using gesso and palette knife, you can follow the steps on the video. The 3rd step is to let it dry for at least 30 minutes and add then add the under painting which is darker in colors like the raw umber. Final step will be adding the highlights and other shades to make it more realistic. Make sure that you use palette knife so that the paints only covers the top of the textures.
