Painting tutorial on how to paint the realistic portrait of my girlfriend Elza with hibiscus or gumamela flower in a step by step easy and basic acrylic portrait painting lesson. This is the first part of the 2 parts real time painting tutorial.
The first part was focus on adding blocking of colors or the under painting and also focuses on building up the tones on the face. It took me more than 2 hours just for this part of the face and it's not guarantee the likeness of the portrait, so it needed more retouch and removing some parts. It's not so easy but it's worth it to try. I used grid lines or graphing lines to make it accurate for the entire canvas but it's not guarantee the likeness so I tried more retouched just to make it alike.
The 2nd part which will be uploaded in the next few days consists of adding details on the hibiscus flower, adding some colors on the background and also on the leaves. I also add details on the red coat. It's much more on finishing but I do all the retouch offline, so I tried refining the face and changing some parts to make it look more similar to the reference and I did it offline for another more or less 2 hours.

thank you Joseph 🙂
You depicted the portrait of your girlfriend beautifully sire! Excellent work as always !👏👏 But unfortunately I really have a hard time using grids which is very odd . God bless 🙏!
thank you senim.. you can use grids for larger canvas because you cannot see the entire view.... for smaller size, its good to do it freehand. God bless you too 🙂
