Oil Paint Colors:

Titanium white
Phthalo Blue / French Ultramarine / Primary blue
Cadmium Red / Brilliant Red
Cadmium Yellow / Primary Yellow / Lemon Yellow
Burnt Umber

Brands: Winton Oil Color, Talens Oil Color, Louvre Oil Color, Grumbacher Oil

Brushes:
Natural Bristles, Filbert Brush Nylons or Synthetic

Palette Knife, smaller is better.

Mediums:
Linseed Oil and Turpentine
You can mix turpentine with Linseed to make it as medium.
It will make oil paints dry faster

Gesso as primer

  2. Beautiful John I've been watching your acrylic channel from your very first video even though I don't use acrylic. Your very sweet John and so happy for you that your doing an oil channel. I know it's a lot of work for you and your doing this for free. Many others sell brushes and even traceables that they obtained for free and charge a dollar on patreon. I hope viewers subscribe and SHARE it helps John out. He doesn't have financial support like others selling shirts...brushes...and so on...he really is doing it all for free.

  3. Very exciting to learn with you oil painting. I wish you could do a Santa portrait...in oils. I like your color mixing. Very nice John beautifully done. Mountain looks so far away and the pine trees..the pine trees are nicely done overlapping and looks Like hundreds of them out there...I can tell you enjoyed painting this..you have a passion for painting..and it gives others the inspiration and motivation to paint.     1. yes you can try it with acrylics... the same technique.. you can use palette knife too but you need to use modeling paste if you are using student grade acrylics or you can use heavy bodies for a thicker paints..
